Argentinean born audio engineer/music producer Juan Pablo Alcaro studied classical composition and attended the Industrial Engineering program at the Buenos Aires Institute of Technology before moving to the United States to study at Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA) in 1998. There he enrolled in the Music Production & Engineering Program. After graduating Magna Cum Laude he moved to New York City, where he built his career at ObliqSound and Twinz Records working as a recording, mix and mastering engineer with Grammy Award winning producers and artists such as Robert Sadin, Will Downing, Bobby Sanabria, and Dave Valentin (his work on "World on a String" granted him a Grammy nomination), among others. He continued carving a niche in the New York jazz scene: recording, mixing and mastering albums for and with top calibre musicians the likes of Lionel Loueke, Gretchen Parlato, Gregoire Maret, Jeff Ballard, Steve Swallow, Paul Motian, Gil Goldstein, Lenny White, Ravi Coltrane, Ralph Alessi, Jojo Mayer, Deantoni Parks, Candido Camero, Erik Truffaz, Jan Vogler, and many more.
During his New York years he also worked as a music mixer in several independent feature films, in part because of his involvement with Sofia Sound Logistics ( a production service that brings film composers to record symphonic material in Eastern Europe) as a technical consultant.
Recent projects include writing and producing original music for two feature films, developing all audio content for a series of TV documentaries commissioned by Encuentro, and the audio production of a large scale building-mapping projection commissioned by the Argentinean Government, celebrating the Bicentennial of the May Revolution. Among most recent works, developing audio content for the Argentinean Pavilion in Milano and Astana World Fairs, also mixing/ mastering albums for Bob Reynolds (Snarky Puppy) and Dusan Jevtovic (featuring Markus Reuter and Gary Husband), are worthy of mention.
